Notes From Maggie 1

Hello everyone, Just wanted to say that Christy Lemp is joining us on our 100 washes journey, so that makes seven of us in total from all over the globe. For those of you who have not posted anything yet, don’t be shy! This blog is all about learning by doing, and no one is judging your work.

Lots of fantastic work posted here already, with more than enough food for thought about different ways of using washes in watercolour. Don’t forget to ask questions in the comments section of the artist who has posted if you would like more help with different techniques…. it would be great to get some good discussions going…. or you can start a new post with questions if you want.

Some of my week's washes drying on my kitchen table!.....I'll post them individually over the coming days....

Monochrome studies in wash ~ my November Class....

Also been working on my monochrome wash studies for my November class: Painting in Monochrome. These were painted using a Winsor & Newton watercolour called Neutral Tint...... just using water to create the tonal values, then once dry I gently put down a wash of cad yellow and light red....the effect is kind of interesting. You could use Paynes Grey, but Neutral Tint is a much warmer grey.

Happy Washing and Happy Painting…..

Maggie

Very great to see all those works on your table. I love the smooth colors of the last one like in Jane's work !

Maggie the washes on the table are looking really fantastic, I can't wait to see them individually. I also like the blue one it is very similar to Jane's beautiful coastal scene. I am keen to get working in blues but am still stuck in the land of pinks at the moment, mostly because I just hate throwing paint left on the palette!
