jane minter wash # 28 #29

 wash # 28

quin gold  + perylene maroon + indanthrene blue
12 x 36 cm canson fontenay 300g / m2

made alot of washes adding salt yesterday with mixed results.... adding the salt at different times ... using the same palette as the sun flowers wash # 27 below
"wet on dry"  adding fine salt (table salt)  + rock salt when the paper was damp .. i use to always keep the painting horizontal after adding salt but tilting a little becomes interesting ...splattering a small amount of water and pigment ...when dry brush off salt

wash # 29

quin gold  + perylene maroon + indanthrene blue
canson fontenay 300g/m2

"wet on wet" adding rock salt and fine salt ...splattering some water ..the salt exploded the paper was much wetter here than the above wash ... after it had dried and i had removed the salt i re -wetted the paper and added some quin gold ..still looking at this one !

They both look like beautiful fireworks, but I think #28 is my favourite.

Your use of salt breaks the usual trend of just getting texture - you're using the salt patterns to create something else...wonderful work and a new spin on an old technique!

Beautiful way and colors. You put just enough maroon to make it magic !
