We are a group of seven like-minded international artists who enjoy the medium of watercolour. Watercolour is such a versatile fine art medium, and the intent of this blog is to showcase our work, highlight techniques and discuss our choice of colours. We are from different skill levels and different parts of the globe, yet share a common interest in learning more about the nuances of painting in watercolour…… especially the role of washes in watercolour painting.

jane minter wash # 30

"wash 30"

quin gold + indanthrene blue + perylene (W & N)
canson fontenay  32 x 41 cm

more salt ....far too much salt here but liked the textures and contrast created by  the fine salt in the area of the very light "wet in wet" wash and  the salt in the  darker "wet on dry" area

Love this deep blue. Makes me think of waves.

This looks so much like a wave cresting along the beach - you placed the salt in just the right places and got a bit of luck in the final look, I imagine - makes me want to try it and see if I can get similar results. Just gorgeous :)

Jane this is a wee stunner, I am there at the edge of the sea at twilight and here is the sea moving in over the sand. Wow.

wow! I love it when good things happen with salt. Pure happenstance, maybe? I've ruined so many good washes with salt!!!!!
